Back in 1935 nobody was aware that the specie produced in one of the universities of California will dominate the world fruits for its taste, freshness and quality. The fruit nourishes in sandy loam, loam and clay loam and develop a taste which is most favorite all over the world. Not only developing countries but developed countries have the same intension for the juicy fruit.

Pakistan has the most favorite climate for this fruit and the taste of its kinnow is very famous and demanding all over the world weather its America, Russia, Arab countries, Malaysia, Indonesia, Central Asia, Ukraine, Belarus or Sirilanka. Among the world’s producer Pakistan is at number six after Brazil, US, China and Spain.

Oranges have 5 main species grown in Pakistan:

Sweet Orange:  Succri, Mausami, Washington Navel and Red Blood

Mandarin:         Feutreus Early

Grape Fruit:     Mashseedless, and Foster

Lemon:             Eureka, Libson, Lemon and Rough Lemon.

Lime:                Kaghzi and Sweet Lime.

With the proper treatment of modern equipments one can increase the life span of these fruits up to 2 month due to this its export is very high and is exported to far away countries of the world. Pakistan exports 300000 tons of kinnow each year and is growing every year in 2004 it was 150000 tons. Pakistan is growing different sizes of it and that is also a demand from different countries. Some countries like Arab countries demand for large, Russia demand for medium size while Sirilanka HAve the demand for small size.

Pakistani kinnow has a very huge demand for juices and pulp as it has 47% of the juice content, 12 to 13% of sugar and each 100ml contains 20-25mg of vitamin C. All these traits make it the world most demanded product.
